Learn to Build a Model Railway.
Renfrewshire Model Railway Club have been awarded a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund to run a free course to teach aspiring railway enthusiasts how to build a model railway.
The course will offer a mix of practical and educational sessions over an 8 week period.
The course takes place at our clubroom.
Sessions for Course 1 will be held on Wednesday evening from 7pm - 9pm run by one of our skilled volunteers with participants also having access to the club room during our regular Monday and Friday running nights, providing an opportunity for participants to further hone their skills or make use of our dog track to run their own rolling stock,
Over the duration of the course, participants will learn about
All the necessary tools and equipment will be made available for use at the club room.
Each course is limited to 10 participants. Participants will be randomly selected from all applicants. Unsuccessful applicants will be given priority for future courses.
As skills such as soldering will be taught, applicants must be at least 12 years old. Under 16's will need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

- Course 1 (August 2026) Application Closed - Course underway.
- Course 2 will start in October 2025 - Applications Closed - Course starts 22nd October.
- Course 3 will start January 2026 - Application Open.

- Baseboard Construction
- Electrics
- Track Detailing
- Ballasting
- Building construction
